Rabbit Hay and Sawdust

Hello!

I was wondering what is your opinion of hay, straw and sawdust for your bunnies?

In regards to hay, there are so many types, I buy timothy hay as I remembering hearing it was 'the best' but it is more expensive, is my money being well spent? Or is there better alternatives?

Also given my Charlie is an indoor rabbit I saw no need for sawdust, but are there any benefits to having it?

Sawdust is not always that good for rabbits, especially if it's dusty! It can give them problem with there respiratory system!

I usually buy hay from a farmer, best is the same as for sheep but the the kind for horses is good too. Lots of timothy but other kind of grasses in it too.

Pure alfalfa can be given with restriction and not as the only hay especially if you also give an alfalfa based pellet because it's give them to much calcium in the diet.

#1 Thanks! I'm going to have a look to see if there are any farmers near me! It could be difficult given I am in the city centre.
